PDP Crisis: Atiku told me Ayu Must Go – Wike

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, said the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar told him after the convention that the National Party Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu Must go for equity.

Governor Wike made this disclosure today, August 08, 2022, at a project commissioning ceremony in Rivers State.

“The Presidential candidate told me I want us to work together. He then said Ayu must go. I asked him why? He told me that when a Presidential candidate comes from the North, the National chairman must come from the South.” He stated.

Wike said he is only asking the presidential candidate to implement what he told him and wonders what offence he has committed.

The Rivers Governor challenged Atiku to deny that he never told, adding that he would reveal more things If he denies it.

Governor Wike describes it as insulting to give the position of the PDP Chairman of the Board of Trustees to the South saying that is not what they want. They want nothing short of the National Chairman of the party.

Wike said as it stands now and how things are going with the party, the people of the southern region do not have a share in the party and may not have if the party wins the 2023 elections.
