The defending champions of the FIFA World Cup, France entertain the South American giants Argentina, in the FIFA World Cup Final today by 16:00 at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium in Doha.

Both France and Argentina have won the tournament twice, with France winning in 1998 and defending the previous edition held in Russia, in 2018.

Argentina on the other hand, have not touched the revered trophy for over 36 years. They were champions in 1978 and 1986, during the Maradona prime days.

The two super weights enjoy a very slim head-to-head record with Argentina beating France twice in friendlies in 2007 and 2009, while France won when it mattered most in a 4-3 encounter at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, during the quarter-final stage.

The Qatar World Cup is one of the most criticized FIFA tournaments, due to perceived human rights violations by Qatar, and the abnormalities orchestrated during the bidding process.

Qatar, a country with an obscured and shredded football culture, emerging the host.

Though, the President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino has described the opening stages as the “best ever” and the tournament a “fantastic success.”
