It was exciting as four young Nigerians became millionaires at the 2024 Calabar Carnival and Festival, held at the popular UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar, Cross River State.

Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Otu in his remarks at the Carnival expressed satisfaction with the 2024 edition of the carnival which he described as the biggest festival in Africa.

Senator Otu expressed happiness that the raffle draws of the 11 million total cash prize for the various categories were transparently executed before nearly two million people that attended the 2024 Calabar carnival and festival as well as many others watching the events on the dedicated DSTV Holiday Channel 198.

The Governor who spoke on the theme, “Our Shared Prosperity”, said the three years partnership between the Cross River State Government through the Calabar Carnival and Festival Commission and YangaGames, highlights the strength of the partnerships.

“I am very pleased and honoured to welcome everyone to the biggest festival in Africa as well as excited to offer new activities as we celebrate our shared prosperity.

“What the whole world has just witnessed is a manifestation of an exclusive 3 year deal between the government of Cross River through the Carnival Calabar and Festival Commission, signed by Sir. Gabe Onah, Chairman, Carnival Calabar and Festival Commission, and Mr. Derrick David Kentebe, the Executive Chairman of YangaGames Technologies Limited. This clearly shows the strength of partnerships.” Gov. Bassey Otu said.

Chairman of the Carnival Calabar and Festival Commission, Sir Gabe Onah said the commitment of YangaGames, UBA, First Bank, Zenith Bank, Afrexim Bank, Nigerian Breweries, Minimie amongst other partners to the Calabar Carnival was an indication to the continued success of the carnival project.

He added that the support of the partners to the 2024 edition remains memorable to all that participated, even those that watched on TV.

“We are grateful to work with such remarkable partners who are helping to bring the best of Nigerian culture to the global stage thereby promoting local and national growth” Sir Onah stated.

The winners of the 11 million naira cash prize include; Mr Uche James Ndukwu – 5 million Naira, Miss Eunice Ibok, a serving Youth corps member – 3 million Naira, Miss Rosemary Effiong Bassey – 2 million Naira while Miss Chinenye Ugonma Amadikwa clinched 1 million naira cash prize for being the best culturally dressed young lady at the African Fashion Fiesta after the unveiling of prolific A-list duo celebrity actresses, Ini Edo and Kate Henshaw alongside music icon, Sunny Nneji as Calabargames.com brand ambassadors.

The 2024 edition of the Calabar Carnival and Festival was a fusion of music, dance, theatre, culture and innovation as several guest artists thrilled the audience with their performances.
