The Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs and leader of the Benue All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator George Akume has advised Benue governorship aspirants of the party not to buy nomination forms yet as the party’s candidate will emerge through a consensus process.

Akume was reported to have given this advice shortly after the Two-day leadership retreat organized for Benue APC governorship aspirants which took place on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at the NAF conference center, Abuja

There are thirty-two governorship aspirants each of them fighting to become the party’s candidate.

Akume believes the consensus process will be better for the party as it will save other aspirants from spending 50,000,000 to purchase the nomination form which no one is sure who will become the party’s flag bearer.

The former Governor said no matter how difficult the process to get the party’s candidate will be, it would be resolved through consensus.

There are, however, rumours that among the 32 governorship aspirants, Akume prefers Rev. Fr. Hycinth Alia to any other aspirant and he has planned to hand Alia the party’s ticket, but most of the aspirants have threatened to leave the party should Akume’s plan work.
