The brouhaha surrounding the missing N10 million donated by Senator Oluremi Tinubu to Benue APC supporters when she visited the state a few days back has assumed a new dimension with facts emerging as to who cornered the monies.

Reliable sources have revealed that the monies were received by the mother of the party who is a former First Lady in the state and handed over to the party’s State Chairman who then left the venue of the visit before it ended.

The disputed Governorship Candidate of the party, Hon. Hyacinth Alia, having gotten wind of the monies for the demobilisation of the party supporters at the visit, had directed that they go and wait at his campaign office on Iyorchia Ayu Road.

Hon. Alia had then gone to meet with the Benue APC mother-general and the party’s state chairman, but did not return to brief the supporters who in their hundreds waited for hours at the campaign office well into the night after which they left, tired, hungry and disappointed.

Various versions have since surfaced as to who cornered the monies, with some positing that the mother-general and the state chairman had gone away with all of it, while another version holds that the contumacious sacked priest had also collected a share from it which he did not remit to his waiting supporters.

Notable praise singer of the party, Hon. Mfater Kaha aka Awambe A Tiv earlier today had launched an attack on leaders of the party accusing them of embezzling party funds, a situation he lamented has become their habit over time, with reference to 2019 when APC lost elections in Benue for reasons attributed to embezzlement of campaign funds by party leaders.

Meanwhile another source has revealed that the apology tendered by Hon. Alia to his supporters in a media statement has been frowned upon by mother-general who preferred that Alia should have kept mute over the matter, as his apology made it public that monies had actually been given and cornered.

But Hon. Alia is said to have made the apology to his supporters deliberately to put himself in favourable light, while also protesting the fact either that he was totally shortchanged or he was not adequately carried along in the sharing of the monies.
