Governor Alia's gates are now closed
Alia

Benue State Governor, Reverend Father, Hyacinth Alia is sixth months into his administration and probably left with three years and six months if nothing happens against him in the courts.

I learnt the Peoples Democratic Party, has appealed the election tribunal judgement which was against them. Let’s watch how things pan out.

In the build-up to the 2023 General elections, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia was touted as a solution to Benue’s problem. Hopes were high, whether they are still is a question demanding answers.

Alia showed humility while seeking supports from Benue people to become the state governor. These days some people have described his humility as Campaigns Humility, as they have not seen it since he became the governor.

Part of what Alia was considered as humble was the access he granted them to his house.

The people said his gates were always wide open for them to come in. There was always food to eat in the house. In fact at one instance in Alia’s house he was the one serving people their food like Jesus in the bible. Another campaign humility?

Alia house was widely regarded as open for all. The pupolar saying amongst the people was “Alia’s doors are widely open.” This was one good selling point of his candidature. The believe was that when he becomes a governor his gates would be widely open for Benue people to access him and share a meal or two with him as it was allegedly regarded as his nature.

But has anything changed? Are the gates still open?

The simple answer is governor Alia gates are shut. If ever they were open they opened circumstantial. He has ordered the gates to be shut and those who proclaimed him as all-embracing are outside the gate peeping through the little spaces on the gate.

Some people who during campaigns could access him easily, call him directly, have suddenly lost those privileges. They are outside the gate.

Party men are in tears outside the gate, his workers are suffering and smiling, they are literally outside the gate because you can not be inside and be borrowing to feed.

But I feel the people shouldn’t worry, his gate may be thrown open soon, it could be undergoing repairs and only him is allowed entrance. Or better still, he may open his gate in 2027 to serve the same the purpose it served for 2023 election governorship election.
