Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and National Treasurer Conference of Speakers of States Houses of Assembly in Nigeria, Rt. Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has felicitated with the Muslim community on the Eid el-Fitr celebration.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Nkem Nwaeke, the speaker rejoiced with the Muslim faithful on the successful end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting, and wished them seamless celebrations.

Dwelling on the essence of the Eid al-Fitr, also known as the “Festival of Breaking the Fast”, Rt Hon Guwor reminded the people that the yearly religious event holds great significance in Islam and called for special prayers for unity and progress in the country.

The Speaker particularly enjoined Muslim brothers and sisters in Delta State to pray for sustained peace and development in the state, even as he commended their massive support for political stability and good governance in the state.

Guwor who represents Warri South West Constituency in the State Assembly, stressed the need for religious tolerance in the country.

the statement reads in parts:  “As our Muslim brothers and sisters mark the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting, I wish to on behalf of my constituents and the entire Delta State House of Assembly, felicitate with them on the spiritual achievements.”

“I am aware that the yearly religious festival involves special prayers, charity, feasting, and spending time with family and friends as the joyous occasion is celebrated to promote unity, compassion, and reflection on the values of Islam.

“I join the faithfuls to express gratitude to Allah and pray with them not to fall short of the essential requirements of Ramadan, including deep spiritual rejuvenation, moral reflection and communal unity amongst others.”

“I wish the faithfuls greater joy as they strive to draw closer to Allah and encourage all to pray always for the progress and unity of the country” Rt Hon Guwor stated.

“The Speaker assured all of the commitment of the State Assembly to joining forces with the Executive arm of the Delta State Government towards achieving accelerated development in the state.”
