The Delta State House of Assembly has invited the public to submit memoranda regarding the Delta State Child Rights Amendment Bill and Domestic Staff Service Providers Registration Bill, 2024

The Bills, which passed second reading on Thursday, 5th September 2024, have been referred to the House Committee on Housing, Women Affairs, Humanitarian Support Services, and Girl Child Entrepreneur for further consideration.

In line with its responsibilities, the Committee is seeking written and oral contributions from individuals, organizations, and government bodies such as the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth Development, as well as NGOs, CSOs, and other stakeholders.

According to the statement by the Chairman, House Committee on Housing, Women Affairs, Humanitarian Support Services And Girl Child Entrepreneur

Ifechukwukwu Bridget Anyafulu, interested parties are requested to submit 15 copies of their memoranda, for each of the bills enclosed in a sealed envelope and addressed to the Chairman of the Committee.

The statement noted that the envelope should be clearly marked “Delta State Domestic Staff Service Providers Registration Bill, 2024 (HB.19)” and must reach the designated office by 30th September 2024.

It explained that a public hearing on both Bills is slated for Wednesday, 2nd October 2024, at 12 noon. The hearing will take place at the Press Centre of the Assembly Complex, Okpanam Road, Asaba, and emphasized the importance of public participation in the legislative process and encouraged stakeholders to engage actively.
