The Nigerian Correctional Services (NCS) has been asked by the House of Representatives joint committee examining the N15 million bribery claims against the EFCC and NCS to produce CCTV video of Bobrisky’s prison stay.

NCS personnel gave an explanation of Bobrisky’s 10-day transfer from the Medium Correctional Center to the Maximum Correctional Center in Ikoyi at the investigative hearing on Monday.

This was revealed in a presentation by NCS Deputy Controller General Michael Benson, who oversees the Medium Correctional Center.

Ginger Onwusibe, the chairman of the committee, learned about Bobrisky’s transfer from the Medium Correctional Center to the Maximum Correctional Center in Ikoyi and proceeded to order the CCTV footage.

According to SaharaReporters, the inquiry got underway when it was revealed through a leaked audio tape that Bobrisky had paid the EFCC N15 million to have the money laundering accusations against him dropped.

Bobrisky, whose true name is Idris Okuneye, was given a six-month prison sentence for abusing Naira, but it is said that he did not finish his term.

According to Daily Trust, EFCC and NCS representatives were present at the hearing, along with Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan. But Bobrisky was conspicuously missing.

Unsatisfied with the response, the committee asked the NCS if it was customary for them to accept gifts from prisoners doing their sentences in their facility. They said that it wasn’t, according to Daily Trust.

In addition, the EFCC has opened an internal inquiry into the claims of bribery. In a similar vein, Bobrisky’s allegations of bribing jail officials have prompted a separate investigation by the Minister of the Interior.

Prior to this, VeryDarkMan had first declined to speak before the committee since Bobrisky was not present. However, he later consented to testify following pressure from committee members and legal counsel.

During his presentation, VeryDarkMan affirmed the statements he had made about Bobrisky in the previous video.

He provided the committee with a number of pieces of evidence to back up his claims, including voice recordings, chat transcripts, and bank transactions.
