Security: It was reported that at about 1130pm on 6th April 2024, a gang of four armed men suspected to be assassins/robbers invaded the Makurdi residence of Hon. Solomon Wombo, Member Representing Katsina -Ala/Ukum/Logo Federal Constituency.
The said hoodlums foced their way into his compound by cutting concentina wires and thereafter scaled the parameter fence. The noise generated in the process alerted the housekeeper who rushed out to investigate only to be confronted by about four armed men already in the compound.

One of the armed men threatened to kill him if he raised any alarm. The thoroughly shaken young man complied with the instructions. Immediately, one of the hoodlums, possibly the gang leader, inquired about the whereabouts of Hon. Solomon Wombo, but the housekeeper replied that he was not around. The armedmen still in doubt then demanded for the keys to the main house, but he informed them that the keys were not in his possession and that the owner of the house always kept the keys to the main house himself.
At that juncture, the gang leader ordered the others who kept watch on the outside to teach the boy a lesson since he was uncooperative and untruthful. The hoodlums then descended on the young man, started hitting him with the butt of guns and firewood lying in the compound and beat him to stupor. They then tied him up with lines ropes, and left him on the floor in the compound in the pool of his blood. The victim bled profusely and fainted.

With the housekeeper out of the way, the gang ransacked the boys’ quarters, but could not find the keys to the main house. They also made attempts to force open the doors of the main house but could not breach them because they were secured. The hoodlums then proceeded to the store house and made away with some valuables and food stuff. This dastardly invasion lasted for about an hour.

The housekeeper has been admitted at a hospital where he is recuperating. In the interim, the matter has been reported to the police and other security agencies for proper investigation. It would be recalled that this is the second time Prince Wombo’s house has been attacked. The first time, was when he left the PDP to contest the House of Reps in APC in 2019.

We give thanks to Almighty God that no fatality was recorded during the break-in and graciously when the honourable and family were not around at that point in time.
