A Benue state woman, Mrs Joy Dekke alleged to be a primary school Teacher, has cried out over the delay in payment of her September salary.

In a post she made on her Facebook timeline, Mrs Joy cried out over the delay of her September salary which she has not been paid on October 12.

According to her this is the first time she has experienced the delay and wondered why the delay.

She said: “it’s been twelve days into the month of October 2023. We have never had it this bad”

While she was not categorical, it was insinuated that she was referring to the delay of her salary by the Benue state government.

Recall that the Benue State Governor Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, had promised that all civil servants would be paid on the 25th of every month.

According some civil servants, the governor  has not kept to this prompt payment promise so far.

Similarly, there are unconfirmed rumor that government teachers and some state workers have been owed several months of salaries since Governor Alia assumed office.
