..Angya says “I can’t insult MINDA people, I’m their grandchild”

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Vandeikya Local Government Area has strongly dismissed allegations that Prof. Paul Angya insulted the MINDA people of Benue State, describing the claims as false, malicious, and politically motivated.

In a statement signed by its chairman, Maxwell Saater Mhambe, the party said the accusations were based on a doctored video from an ADC event where Prof. Angya had only made an objective comparison of governance performance in the state.

“At no point did Prof. Angya disparage or denigrate any community,” the statement read. “It is the height of absurdity to suggest that a proud grandson of the revered Torkula Amah Orngu and a true son of MINDA would speak ill of his own heritage and bloodline.”

The ADC accused political opponents of deliberately twisting Angya’s remarks in a bid to malign his reputation, distract the public, and whip up ethnic sentiments. According to the party, such propaganda is designed to divert attention from pressing issues confronting the state, including hunger, poor healthcare, collapsed infrastructure, and widespread poverty.

The statement warned that if left unchecked, such divisive fabrications could threaten the peace, unity, and stability of Benue State. It therefore urged traditional rulers, youth groups, civil society, and political actors to reject ethnic propaganda and focus on issue-based politics.

Reaffirming its support for Prof. Angya, the ADC stressed that his record of service at state, national, and international levels remains unblemished. “He is committed to truth, justice, unity, and the upliftment of the Benue people. No amount of propaganda can erase this fact,” the party declared.

The statement concluded with a call on the public to dismiss the allegations and remain united in the pursuit of good governance.

Meanwhile,  Angya has also collaborated the submission of the ADC that the he video in circulation where it is alleged that he insulted MINDA people was doctored.  He noted that what he said was , Ortom, the man from MINDA, performed better than Alia, a Kunav man, which is contrary to the earlier assumption by Kunav people that they are smarter and they will do better if given the governorship

He emphasized that He can’t insult MINDA people, because he is their grandchild with  his maternal home  at Tse-Torkula in Guma LGA.
