More ardent supporters of the All Progressives Congress, APC governorship candidate in Benue State, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia have withdrawn their support, following his public campaign for the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket of the party.
Rev Fr Alia in a video last week, was seen signing for the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, an outing that sparked condemnations from a good number of his supporters.
In a social media post, Miss Patience Nyajoh who was one of the first to make their feelings known on the matter wrote, “No more Alialiazation in my dictionary again. Let him continue supporting Tinubu. Mvor neat.”

Another supporter of the APC guber candidate in the state said, “my problem is not him supporting a presidential candidate but the excitement of even changing lyrics of a gospel song. Haba fada.”
In another post, Iorwuese Gbegi stated, “Having confirmed that Fr Alia is campaigning for Tinubu, I hereby withdraw my support and prayers for him from this moment.”
Others who made their stand known on the matter said Fr Alia has lost their votes as his decision to promote the Muslim-Muslim ticket of APC has shown gross disregard for the unity of Nigeria and runs contrary to the tenets of inclusive democracy.
At the time of this report, the governorship campaign organization of the APC candidate was yet to react to the withdrawal of his supporters.
