As the 2023 campaigns begin, the Benue Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, says its governorship candidate, Engr. Titus Tyoapine Uba is the most experienced and primed to win.
The state party Publicity Secretary, Bemgba Iortyom, who in a statement he signed reeled out the qualification of Uba said the Governorship candidate has garnered over 25 years of experience in industrial design and fabrication and with requisite education qualifications to work effectively as a governor.
The statement reads: “In a couple of days, on 13th October 2022, campaigns will officially commence for the 2023 Governorship race in which the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State is fielding as its candidate Engr. Titus Tyoapine Uba.
“Ranked as the most experienced candidate in the race by his current status as No. 3 citizen of the state, he packs a solid resume as an Engineer who notched up a track record of over 25 years experience in industrial design and fabrication, machine operations as well as mechanical maintenance services across several sectors, including agriculture
“Engr. Uba acquired foundational engineering training from the Federal Polytechnic, Idah, now in Kogi State, with the National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering obtained between 1987 and 1989, then proceeded to the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi where he obtained the Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from 2002 to 2004.
“While at Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, he designed and fabricated the vane pump as his project work which was adjudged ‘Project of the Year’ distinguishing him among other graduating students of his set.
“The pump is in use in a number of industries across Nigeria and to date remains a reference in engineering breakthroughs at the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi where it has consistently been displayed at several technical exhibitions by the school.
“The Benue PDP Governorship Candidate further holds a postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Mechanical Engineering from the J S Tarka University of Agriculture, Makudi, and is currently studying for a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Production at the same institution, even as he took off time to attend a one moth Technical Training Course in soya beans and rice processing in South Korea.
“His work experience took roots from a stint at Ajaokuta Steel Company in 1985 as Assistant Roller, an experience which shaped his life and guided his career choice of mechanical engineering.
“Upon acquisition of professional skills as an Engineer, Uba gained employed with Benro Packaging Company Limited, producers of packaging bags for the them Benue Cement Company, and it is on record that while there, he brought his ingenuity and professional expertise to bear on fabricating spare parts for the production lines locally, thereby halting the importation of most spare parts from abroad.
“Following the folding up of Benro Packaging Company, Engr. Uba took up appointment with Vandeikya Local Government in 1991 as Assistant Technical Officer but resigned in 1994 to join YUTECO Foods Limited, Gboko as a Shift Mechanical Supervisor (maintenance ).

“By dint of hard work, dedication to duty and technical competence, he rose to the position of Senior Supervisor and later Acting Head of department ( maintenance ) – all within a span of two years. By virtue of his position, he was directly in charge of all mechanical operations, fault finding and fixing of same on all machines as well as safety of company environment and staff ; an assignment he performed creditably well.
“With this rich pedigree the distinguished Engineer Titus Uba took the definitive step into politics and in 2015 ran for the Benue State House of Assembly seat for his people of Kyan State Constituency which he won and by 2018 rose to the top job as Speaker of the Assembly, a position he has maintained to date.
“This is the runner Benue PDP has fielded on the tracks for the 2023 Governorship race, who’s victory will guarantee a consolidation of the security structure put in place by Governor Samuel Ortom against the expansionist agenda of Fulani herdsmen, through the Prohibition of Open Grazing and Ranches Establishment Law.
“This is the runner who as Governor will deploy his wealth of practical experience as an engineer to push Benue further on the industrialisation drive from the point achieved by Governor Ortom.”
