As preparations for Christmas celebration have continued to gather momentum, facts have emerged that, efforts by the Benue State Government to give Makurdi the state capital a new look via decoration of major roundabouts and painting of road dividers have rather generated a fight between the three Senior Special Assistants to Governor Hyacinth Alia on Township Beautification.
It is gathered that, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Township Beautification II, Dorcas Faeren Mbatiav have diverted N2 million naira of the funds meant for painting of road dividers in Makurdi town, alleging that she was acting on the instructions of the Governor.

The act by the SSA has brought set back to the beautification project as constractors handling the painting of the road dividers have since stopped work due to lack of funds to get paint.
Meanwhile, the SSA to the Governor on Township Beautification III, Linda Ene Agada has been caught in a war of words with Dorcas expressing her displeasure over the matter, insisting that, both of them, including the SSA on Township Beautification I, Member Dekera must appear before the Governor to get more facts as to why he directed Dorcas Mbatiav to divert N2 million from the approved money for the beautification project.
It is shocking that a government who came to power with a promise to make a difference would resort to diversion of public funds in this manner.
