The Chairman of the Parliamentary Friendship Group, and House Representatives member for Vandeikya/Konshisha federal Constituency, Sesoo Ikpagher, says the Nigeria-Senegal Parliamentary Friendship Group would build capacity of Nigerian legislators through shared knowledge.
He stated this Thursday in his address at the inaugural meeting of the Nigeria-Senegal Parliamentary Friendship Group.
According to him it is meant strategically to expand Nigeria’s legislative relationship with their Senegalese counterparts, through various avenues of collaborative communication and engagements, to foster understanding and shared experiences, with the intent to enhance capacity and improve the effectiveness of members in their parliamentary duties; to better serve the Nigerian parliament and the Nation at large.

He noted that the creation of the Parliamentary Friendship Groups, was a further demonstration of the commitment of the Leadership of the 10th House of Representatives, to her Legislative Agenda; which among other issues, includes influencing the foreign policy of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Ikpagher explained that the recent happenings in the West African sub-region required legislative cooperation and engagement between and amongst nations in the region, stressing that the cooperation was a springboard and catalyst to strengthen and improve the socio-political and economic standing of every nation in the sub-region.
While thanking The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abass PhD., for the opportunity to lead the charge he charged his colleagues to give the best of their experience, knowledge, passion and commitment to enable the Parliamentary Friendship Group reach its goals and promised to foster team spirit and cooperation within members of the Friendship Group to achieve set objectives.
Ikpagher directed Clerk of the Committee Mr. Rauf Olanrewaju to speed up with the workplan for the commencement of the activities.
