Information reaching Defenders of Democracy, DoD has it that there is an ongoing plot orchestrated by Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State, in collaboration with certain individuals, to unjustly target and cripple the business investments of his predecessor, Chief Samuel Ortom. This retrogressive plan involves raiding and shutting down all companies under Oracle Business Limited, a reputable enterprise founded by Chief Ortom, under the guise of baseless allegations and personal vendetta.

The state Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Yanmar Ortese who is an arrowhead of the plot has been boasting around that Chief Ortom must be crippled when his business conglomerate is shut down by the Alia administration.

According to reliable sources the Alia government plans to use security men to accompany the people they are to send to forcefully raid Oracle Businesses and shut down the companies. The reason is that they have taken Chief Ortom to EFCC and ICPC by writing several petitions against him on frivolous and baseless issues, so the last option is to seal his companies and render him ineffective.

The government targets to not just shut down the Oracle businesses but also take away vehicles parked within the company premises and any other valuables they may find.

It is both disheartening and alarming to learn of Governor Alia’s vindictive actions aimed at undermining Chief Ortom’s legitimate investments, which have not only contributed significantly to the economic growth of Benue State but have also provided hundreds of jobs to youths of the the state.

The vindictive posture displayed by Governor Alia and his cohorts, particularly in pursuing this malicious agenda is a blatant abuse of power and a gross violation of the principles of justice and fair play.

Governor Alia must be reminded that targeting Chief Ortom’s businesses in a bid to settle personal scores is not only morally inexcusable but also economically detrimental to the people of Benue State. By jeopardizing the livelihoods of numerous individuals who depend on these enterprises for their sustenance, Governor Alia is callously disregarding the welfare of the very people he is sworn to protect and serve.

It is imperative that Governor Alia and his conspirators understand that governance is a sacred trust, and as custodians of public office, they are duty-bound to act in the best interest of the people, not to pursue personal vendetta at the expense of the common good. The rule of law must prevail, and due process must be followed in addressing any grievances or allegations against Chief Ortom or any other citizen.

DoD unequivocally condemns Governor Alia’s unwarranted targeting of Chief Ortom’s investments and urges him to desist from this malicious campaign immediately.

The people of Benue State deserve leadership that upholds the values of fairness, justice, and respect for the rule of law. Governor Alia must redirect his focus towards promoting unity, progress, and prosperity for all, rather than engaging in divisive and destructive actions that only serve to sow discord and undermine the fabric of society.
