Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia says the state government will no longer register national examinations for free for students across the state going forward.
The Governor stated this during a meeting with all Principals of Secondary schools in the state at Government College, Makurdi.
According to the Governor, the State Government is not registering national examinations for citizens like it did in 2024 as an attempt to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy wiwithdrawal.

While the Governor didn’t state why he is stopping the intervention, newsflow gathered that the state government does not have the funds it got from Federal government as it did in 2024 as palliatives to pay for the examination registration.
Governor Alia also announced that the Ministry of Education and Knowledge Management will be splitted into two: Ministry of Basic Education and Ministry of Secondary and Tertiary Education noting that a new Commissioner will be announced at a later date.

He further banned the collection of cash in schools and ordered for all schools to use cashless payment methods driven by technology.
