Coalition of Southern Youths say they are impressed with Governor Samuel Ortom for the open apology he gave to Nigerians over his “Anti -Fulani” comment adding oter leaders should emulate him.
President of the group, Tito Dzokumor, in a statement he signed, said Ortom must be commended for apologizing, and other leaders should emulate him for saying sorry in instances where they offend their subjects.
The statement reads: “The Coalition of Southern Youths, CSY commends Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State for tendering an open apology to Nigerians over recent comments he made about Fulanis.
“Watching the video clip of the Governor apologising on a national television gives us the simply confirms his status as a man whose disposition to peace and stability is unparalleled.
“That giant and bold move by the man who has become more like the conscience of the nation would further encourage others, especially leaders to tow the side of peace and tranquility even when they are provoked by some leaders or are not discerning enough.
“We are not surprised at Governor Ortom’s latest show of humility and responsibility as his passion for modesty as a role model is uncommon.

“We urge all leaders of thought and opinion leaders to take a cue from the Benue State henchman in always doing that which is capable of calming frayed nerves than making utterances capable of complicating an already bad situation.
“The CSY believes that the unreserved apology by Ortom will also allay the fears of the Fulanis that they were being profiled and targeted for bad blood by some Nigerians.
“It will also set the tone for a harmonious relationship between Fulani leaders and Governor Ortom who has been an epitome of peace and unity as exhibited in all his dealings with people irrespective of who they are and what they profess.
“The CSY expresses the hope that those leaders, like Atiku Abubakar who obviously provoked Ortom into making that comment about Fulanis would be more careful in selecting their words while reacting to national issues, especially the killings in Benue and other parts of the country.”
