Kaduna: 360 persons killed, 1,389 kidnapped- Security Report

A quarterly security briefing report presented to the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai reveals that 360 persons have been killed, while  1,389 persons have been kidnapped in the State.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, who presented the report to the Governor said the killings and kidnapping were due to banditry and other violent crimes. He added that Kaduna Central Zone was the most affected.

Governor El-Rufai, receiving the report also confirms the presence of Ansaru terrorists and other criminal elements in Kaduna State.

El-Rufai stated that the attack on the Abuja- Kaduna bound train on the 28th of March in which the passengers kidnapped were still in captivity was due to the rising presence of Ansar and Boko Haram terrorists in the state and their growing interaction with armed bandits.

To the  Governor, the terrorists were moving from the Northeast to the Northwest and are now recruiting young people into their fold, especially people in vulnerable communities across the state.

The State Governor expressed concern about the use of mines and Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) by terrorists and called for the establishment of a military theatre command in the region.

Meanwhile, Vanguard had earlier reported that the Ansaru and Boko Haram, terrorists were re-emerging in the Birnin-Gwari Emirate of Kaduna State, a development that may not augur well for the continued peace and security of the state.
