A group of contractors who supplied fertilizer to Benue State Government for the 2024 farming season have threatened to take legal action against the state government for what they described as “deliberate refusal” to pay them for the fertilizer they supplied to the government through the Bureau of Agricultural development and mechanization (BNARDA & BENTHA).

This is coming after the contractors’ several attempts to get their ppayments from the Benue State Government have failed as all the concerned officials have deliberately refused to listen to them or give tangible reasons why they are not paid barely four months after Governor Hyacinth Alia flagged off the fertilizer initiative for the 2024 farming season.
According to one of the contractors, who pleaded anonymity, said they have severally written to the Gov. Revd. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Alia, and the Director General, Agricultural development and mechanization who signed the contract documents, but to no avail.
He noted that they are left with no option than to take legal action against the government in order to get their money.

He added that the non payment of their contract money by the Benue State Government has affected their businesses moreso that they were not mobilized to make the supply.
