Delta Assembly Service Commission shortlists 61 staff for promotion

Sixty-one staff of the Delta State House of Assembly Service Commission have been shortlisted for promotion to the next levels in their services to the state.

Executive Chairman of the Commission, Mr Sunday Ebireri who disclosed this in his remarks at the commencement of the 2025 promotion interview for staff at the Commission’s headquarters in Asaba, said the affected staff cut across management and middle management cadres.

Flanked by some other board members and Secretary of the Commission, Barr Austin Uwasike, Mr Ebireri explained that the Commission cannot afford to fail in its responsibility to ensuring that staff of the Delta State Legislature remains effective and responsive at all times.

The Executive Chairman noted that recruitment of staff, promotions, training and retraining as well as other welfare packages and programmes are top priorities in the Commission, in line with provisions of the law that established it.

While assuring that the management team of the Commission under his leadership will continue to motivate staff for enhanced service delivery, Mr Ebireri challenged the workers to reciprocate the gesture by giving their best to assigned duties.

Saying that the Commission has totally aligned with the MORE mantra of the State Government, the Chairman commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his leadership and friendly disposition to the workforce in the state, including those in the State Legislature.

Mr Ebireri who expressed appreciation to the Governor for release of funds for the promotion interview, also thanked the Speaker, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor for approving and facilitating commencement of the process.

He said, “One of our core mandate is promotion of staff of the Commission. That duty is the reason we are here this morning. 61 management and middle management staff have been listed for this exercise.

“His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori Governor of Delta State always place the welfare of workers in the state a priority. We in the Commission cannot but be in line with MORE agenda of the Governor.

“We will continue to motivate staff for enhance service delivery and optimal performance. I believe that staff also owe it as a duty to put in their best always in their work places”, Ebireri stated.

Some of the staff interviewed paid glowing tributes to the leadership of the state and the state legislature for their efforts towards promoting quality and efficiency in the state public service.

They said promotion to next cadres in their ranks is a moral booster and restated their commitment to continue to add value to the system.

The promotion exercise is expected to last for two days.
