Ahead of the 2023 elections, Special Adviser to the Benue State Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr Terver Akase says the governance of the state is not a place for experiment by a political neophyte.
Akase stated this Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at the inauguration of officials and commissioning of a secretariat for United Benue Comrades for Uba/Ngbede, a support group for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Governorship candidate, Engr Titus Uba.
The former guber aspirant who is the donor of the secretariat said his decision to donate the edifice to the United Benue Comrades for Uba/Ngbede was borne out of his conviction that Uba has the requisite experience and capacity to deliver good governance to the people of the state.
He stated that the current challenges of development called for a tested and trusted man like Titus Uba whose leadership of the State House of Assembly has been one of the most peaceful and result-oriented since the creation of the state.
Mr Akase pointed out that a political novice who has no knowledge of the workings of government, if elected as Governor, would need a long time to learn and experiment, a situation he said would take the Benue State many years backwards.
He maintained that Governor Samuel Ortom has made impressive efforts toward moving the state forward in the last seven years and there was the need to elect someone who is knowledgeable about the business of governance to take over from him.
He added that Uba had a rich record of achievements with numerous projects in his Constituency in Vandeikya and would replicate the feat for Benue State as Governor.
Speaking while performing the inauguration, Engr Uba expressed appreciation to Mr Akase for standing firmly behind his guber bid, saying Akase was the first fellow aspirant who publicly declared support for him upon his emergence as the party’s consensus candidate.

Engr Uba noted that the donation by Mr Akase was the first his campaign had received and commended his gesture, stating that his confidence was rekindled in the party’s victory in next year’s polls.
Chairman of the occasion and Deputy Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly, Christopher Adaji, who was represented by the Majority Leader, Hon. Damian Cheme, charged members of the group to mobilize support from all parts of the state for the success of the PDP, pledging support of the State Assembly Members to the group.
Earlier in his address, Convener of the group, Comrade Jacob Angor, tasked members to assiduously work for the election of Uba as Governor as well as other candidates of the PDP.
Other speakers including the Director General of the group, Comrade Msughter Adom as well as former Konshisha Council Chairman, Hon Moses Shirsha all pledged their readiness to work for the Uba/Ngbede project and appreciated Mr Akase for donating the secretariat.
The event which also featured fundraising for the group had goodwill messages from the State Focal Person, Social Investment Programme, Dr Terris Damsa, while representatives of Senator representing Benue South, Abba Moro, House of Representatives Member for Makurdi/Guma, Commissioner for Information, Michael Inalegwu, Chairman, Benue Internal Revenue Service, BIRS, Mrs Mimi Adzakpe-Orubibi, as well as the former Chairman Otukpo Local Government, George Ali all made donations to support the group.
