The Benue State House of Assembly has urged Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia to expedite the renovation of the Assembly Complex, citing concerns over security harassment at the Government House, where they currently hold sessions.
During the plenary on Wednesday, 18th September 2024, Speaker Chief Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh presided as the House deliberated on the issue. Majority Leader Comr. Saater Tiseer, in a motion, highlighted that Assembly members face regular harassment by security personnel at the Government House gate. He emphasized that this issue would have been avoided had the renovation of the Assembly Complex been completed, and called on the Governor to mobilize the contractor to finish the work promptly.

Supporting the motion, Minority Leader Rt. Hon. Michael Audu echoed concerns about members being subjected to repeated checks and occasional maltreatment by security operatives. Other members also expressed appreciation to the Governor for the ongoing renovation, while urging faster completion.
The House concluded the plenary by proceeding on recess, marking the end of the first sitting of the second legislative session of the Tenth Assembly (2024-2025). Speaker Dajoh thanked members for their dedication and encouraged them to work towards greater legislative achievements upon their return in October 2024.

In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Terver Zamber, during the session, the House considered thirteen bills, passed one into law, and reviewed twelve reports, among other legislative activities. They also deliberated on substantive motions and adopted key resolutions. Additionally, the House received communications from the Governor, including nominations for appointments and budget reviews.
