“We stand with Dan Nyikwagh in distancing Jechira Gubernatorial Movement (Youth Wing) FROM ALL FORM of electoral malpractice by any Jechira Son/daughter against others.”
In a statement signed by 12 members of association said their signatures appeared on the Agbo’s statement without their consent and they neither attended any meeting with him on the same course.
The statement reads “We the undersigned, being members of the Youth Wing of JECHIRA GUBERNATORIAL MOVEMENT, do state the following salient facts:
“That we read a statement published to the public vide the Facebook wall of Mr. Agbo Samuel, Secretary of the JECHIRA GUBERNATORIAL MOVEMENT (Youth Wing) which we are members of, which he purported us to have been signatories to;
“The said statement published by Agbo Samuel conveyed disputation against an earlier statement published to the public by the esteemed Global Convener of the Youth Wing of JECHIRA GUBERNATORIAL MOVEMENT, Mr. Dan Nyikwagh, in support of actions taken by Jechira sons and daughters who may have cause to seek redress, even in the law courts, to acts of electoral injustice meted against them in their quest to actualise the dream of the Jechira intermediate bloc to produce the Governor of Benue State at the 2023 elections.
“That for avoidance of doubt, we, the undersigned, wholly align with the position of the esteemed Global Convener of the Youth Wing of JECHIRA GUBERNATORIAL MOVEMENT, Mr. Dan Nyikwagh, which is to the effect that the agitations of the Jechira intermediate bloc for political parties to give their Governorship tickets to Jechira sons and daughters was not for same to present avenue through which one or more among them will manipulate, defraud or shortchange others;
“And where that is deemed to have happened, the letter and spirit of the agitations by JECHIRA GUBERNATORIAL MOVEMENT and its Youth Wing must be deemed to have ab initio frowned upon same, and in commensurate measure support lawful actions taken to remedy such injustice.
“That the said statement published by Mr. Agbo Samuel in dispute against the just position taken by our esteemed Global Convener, Mr. Dan Nyikwagh, as enumerated above, to which he, Mr. Agbo Samuel, appended our names as signatories, was so done with neither our consent nor at any fora known to us where such consent could be deemed to have been expressly or impliedly obtained.
“That we, therefore, consider such arbitrary appendage of our names as signatories to the position taken by Mr. Agbo Samuel as not only libelous and a violation of our right to freedom of speech, but also as mischievous, and do accordingly demand that Mr. Agbo Samuel tender to us unreservedly a written apology published to same space as he did the offending statement;
“This he should do within 48 hours of our publishing this statement to his Facebook wall and to his other social media handles including WhatsApp, failure to do so which we will proceed in both criminal and tortious action against him to redeem our good names.
“That our action in this regard is taken in utmost good faith, pursuant to the maintenance of justice, equity and sanity among us as Jechira people, being that the core principles upon which was predicated primarily, our quest for the Governorship of Benue State in 2023, and upon which alone our bonds of brotherhood will be sustained now and in the future.
