Delta State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Delta State, is advocating for mass enrollment of pupils into public primary schools in the next academic session in the state in September.
Chairman of the Board, Hon Samuel Mariere stated this at Isiokolo, headquarters of Ethiope East local government Council, in continuation of the Board’s strategic meeting with stakeholders in public primary education sector in the state.

Traditional rulers, Community Leaders, Head Teachers of schools and vigilante groups, promised to give financial award to Head Teachers with the highest enrollment of pupils in the next academic session.
He directed house-to-house campaign to sensitize the public, particularly parents to enroll their wards in public schools as the State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has shown so much commitment to providing conducive environment for teaching and learning in the schools.

The Subeb Boss stated that considering the present hard economic situation in the country, parents should take advantage of government’s free education in the state to send their wards to public schools as they now has qualified teachers and good infrastructures for teaching and learning.
Mariere charged Head Teachers to pilot government reforms in public primary schools education by promoting and implementing the agenda, even as he urged them to work closely with the community leaders and the School Based Management Committee, SBMC.
Responding to an issue raised on pupils of Ogono primary school in Urhvovie Abraka that could not registered and participated for the Primary Six Leaving Certificate Examination, the Subeb Chairman promised to set up a committee to investigate the matter, saying that if the head teacher is found wanting, disciplinary action would be carried out.
He assured the community that the affected pupils would be registered in the next registration session to write the exams.
The two term former member of the Delta State Assembly, commended HRM Mike Omeru, the Ovie of Agbon kingdom for supporting government reforms to reposition public primary schools.
He appealed to the authorities of Ethiope East local government council to implement the constitutional 10% subvention to schools in the area as against the 1% it pays to run subvention.
Hon Mariere assured vigilante groups that government would soon address their welfare, and appealed to them to protect school facilities in the locality.
He commended the SBMC in Ethiope East for being committed to the development of education in the area and urged them to do more in encouraging parents to enroll their wards in public primary schools.
Head of Personnel Management, HPM, Ethiope East, Mrs Remi Omastsuli, represented by Anthony Roboghara commended Hon Mariere for the reforms in public primary schools in the state.
The Education Secretary, Ethiope East, Chief Roselyn Esiso congratulated Chief Mariere and members of the board on their well deserved appointments and promised to join forces with the team for the ongoing reforms.
HRM Mike Omeru CON, Ogurimerime 1, Ovie of Agbon kingdom, said as a former Teacher he welcome the reforms of the government and promised to support it.
He said primary schools remains the foundation of education of any society.
The Monarch assured SUBEB that the traditional institution of Agbon and Abraka kingdoms would mobilize her subjects to bring back the glorious days of primary education.
