The commissioner said the state government had recently embarked on a series of demolition exercises, to remove all illegal structures without government approval.

According to an eyewitness account of the incident, a bulldozer had come to pull down the security canopy opposite Shaibu’s residence at about 5: 00 pm on Sunday evening.

He said most of the security personnel attached to Shaibu had been removed, leaving only a few personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigeria Police around at the time of the demolition exercise.
