First class chief of Sankera, Abu King Shuluwa has urged the Governor of Benue State, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia to honour the agreement he made with bandits in Sankera during campaigns for peace to reign in his domain.
Shuluwu made the call on Saturday, 13th January, 2024 at Akume Atongo Stadium, Katsina-Ala in his funeration oration at the burial of the late Ter Katsina-Ala HRH Chief Fezanga Wombo.
The monarch who decried the rising insecurity in his domain which has resorted to kidnapping and killing of prominent sons of Sankera and innocent citizens said, no day passes without him recieving calls from the killers of his people who have always insisted that the Governor must keep to his words with them.
He said, the continued killing of his people has given him sleepless nights and called on the people of Sankera to cooperate with the government to restore peace in Sankera.
“His Excellency, listen to what I am telling you and listen carefully. If you listen I will be happy and the people of Sankera will be happy to.

“Those boys in the bush (bandits) have been calling me everyday. Each time I ask them to give me their names, they refuse. They keep telling me they are tired and the only person that can give them rest is you the governor.
“Please Your Excellency, find a day and come to Sankera let’s meet with this my children in the bush. Our children are perishing in the bush. It is not complete their fault, they are only finding who would give them rest and the only person that would give them rest is the Governor.
“His excellency, they have abandoned us in Sankera with this problem of insecurity. Nothing concerns anyone with what is happening in Sankera. So his excellency find a day let’s talk to these boys. Even if it’s on radio, it will be fine. Leaving them like this is not good enough.
“Each time they call, they keep telling me that, during campaigns, you promised them that once you are sworn in as Governor, you will bring them out of the bush. Your excellency, you are a man of your words, try and keep to your words with these boys, let me have peace in my domain”. HRH Shuluwa said.
The monarch who also said if killing him would restore peace in Sankera, he was ready to sacrifice his life for peace to reign said “at 78 I am not afraid of death. if I should be killed for peace to reign in Sankera and Benue State, then let it be”.
Recall that Sankera has witnessed the worse insecurity since May 29, 2023 where hundreds of people have lost their lives with many kidnapped.
