The Labour Party, LP, has sprang up surprises in the 2023 elections at both national and state levels with the number of elective positions the party has won.

The Labour Party, which has its slogan as mother, father child, was driven by the Obidient movement across the country.

The party was described by many as no structure, meaning the political party had no single member holding a political office in the country. From presidency, National Assembly, state Governor and state assembly, no Labour Party member Could be found in any of those.

However, the party which gathered momentum barely 10 months to the general elections and which many people wrote off, has now won 110 elective positions.

The Labour has now won  Governorship election in Abia State as the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced Alex Oti as the Governor-elect.

Also, the Labour party has won 6 senatorial seats with 36 House of Representatives seats.

For the state House of Assembly seats, the Labour Party has clinched 68 seats across Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the presidential candidate of the party, Peter Obi and his vice, Yusuf Datti have petitioned the presidential election calling for the cancellation of the election.

Among the pleas of Obi’s petition, there are 5 prayers to court by Peter Obi and LP. They are:

1. BAT not qualified to run.

2. BAT failed to get majority of the lawful votes.

3. Cancel the election.

4. BAT failed to score 25% in FCT.

5. Conduct a fresh election which BAT and Shettima shall not participate.
