The All Progressives Congress presidential rally Bola Ahmed Tinubu that had been scheduled to take place in Makurdi tomorrow, January 26, 2023, has been postponed indefinitely, which is no longer breaking news.
According to insider sources, the Appeal Court’s decision on Monday to invalidate the direct primaries the APC held in the state last year, which controversially produced Hyacinth Alia, is what caused the gathering in Makurdi to be abruptly postponed. The Appeal Court removed Alia from office, leaving the APC without a candidate for governor of Benue State.
The aforementioned circumstance has left the party in a difficult position because, as things stand, the former priest cannot run for governor on the party’s behalf. He was slated to receive the party’s flag at the Makurdi gathering because he is the state coordinator for the Tinubu/Shetima Muslim-Muslim ticket. That won’t happen again since handing Alia the APC flag would be a violation of the Appeal Court’s ruling mandating a second round of voting in 11 local governments in Benue State.
The obstinate man and the APC are currently entangled in a dangerous situation. He is trapped in a hollow pit from which it is just as impossible to escape as it is to stay.

Another rumor circulating is that Bola Tinubu donated George Akume, the APC leader in Benue state, N2000 million to help organize the party’s presidential rally in Makurdi, but the money was misappropriated. Unverified reports claim Tinubu was extremely furious over the situation and canceled the visit, which was already tarnished by the Appeal Court’s ruling on Monday.
Benue State’s APC is in ruins. Many of the party’s supporters are questioning why they committed their energy and feelings to something that was doomed to failure from the start.
