Flood: Approximately 50 individuals find themselves stranded within a compound in Makurdi due to the aftermath of torrential rains last night.
The heavy downpour, which commenced around 1 am, effectively confined residents of George Akume Plaza, located opposite Vandeikya Street along Ishaya Bakut Way. This unforeseen weather event prevented them from commuting to work and hindered their ability to escort their children to school.

Attempts by residents to enter or exit the compound this morning were thwarted by severe flooding. Winifred Achagh, a resident, conveyed from her rooftop that they have been marooned since the flooding began, facing daunting challenges with access to food and clean water.
Compounding their difficulties, the floodwaters have contaminated the only available water source within the compound. Ms. Achagh attributed the inundation to the absence of adequate water drainage systems in the vicinity and urgently appealed to the government to implement proper water management channels to prevent future occurrences.
