Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has been receiving growing support for his senatorial ambition.
Another group that has come to pledge its support for the Governor’s ambition is a Political Pressure Group called “Team Ortom for Senate 2023.”
In a statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Nathaniel Ikyur said the group pledged to support Governor Samuel Ortom to win the Benue North-West Senatorial seat in next year’s general election.
The statement reads: “The Group, made up of seasoned politicians across the seven Local Government Areas of Benue North West made the pledge Tuesday, April 12th, 2022 when they paid the Governor a courtesy visit at Benue Peoples House, Makurdi.
“Coordinator of the Group, Mrs. Monica Ugela who stated that the group was one among the first that was formed two years ago to support the Governor said its mandate was to impress on the Governor to contest for the seat even if he was not willing to.
“She explained that the Governor has served the state with dedication, commitment and sacrifices, stressing that as a group, they were convinced that if elected into the Senate after his tenure as Governor, he will attract more good things to the state.
“The Coordinator of the “Team Ortom for Senate 2023” also said their support for Governor Ortom was based on what he has done for them as individuals, pointing out that they were not expecting any reward from him as they have been funding their activities themselves.

“Governor Samuel Ortom in a response expressed appreciation to the group for having the confidence in his ability to represent the zone despite the wrong perception of some people about him and promised not to disappoint the confidence reposed in him.
“The Group presented branded souvenirs to the governor and his wife, Dr Eunice Ortom including Face Caps, Tee Shirts as well as umbrellas to aid his campaign.”
