Two young men on Sunday, narrowly escaped death by lynching from angry youths in Okpiligwu Ugboju, Otukpo Local Government, area of Benue State for allegedly stealing a cow.
An eye witness, Godwin Achimi, explained that the young men stole a cow from a cattle rearer, James Odejo, slaughtered and sold it to a food vendor in Adoka market, in Otukpo Local Government area.
Achimi narrated that youths from Agatu and Ugah communities, while conducting a search for the missing cow, caught the alleged thieves on their way back from Adoka where they had sold the cow.
Achimi further narrated that while the youths were about to set ablaze the alleged thieves with tyres hung on their necks, men of the Nigerian Police Force arrived the scene, rescued them and took them to the station.
When contacted, Benue State Command, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sewuese Anene said she was yet to be briefed on the incident.
