Benue State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has expressed satisfaction with the National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr Iyorchia Ayu, over remarks that PDP will emerge victorious in all elections in the State.
State Publicity Secretary, PDP, Benue State, Bemgba Iortyom made this known in the statement he issued today, October 30, 2022.
The statement reads: “Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State notes with satisfaction remarks by its National Chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu a couple of days in Gboko dismissing as unserious the governorship ambition of the disputed Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Hon. Hyacinth Alia.
“We are aware Dr. Ayu had at a meeting with stakeholders of our great party from his native Jemgbagh axis of the state at his Gboko residence a couple of days back addressed a number of issues including the ongoing crisis involving him and some state governors on the platform of the party.
“Benue APC had initially waxed jubilant over the remarks of the PDP National Chairman at the meeting regarding the crisis in the party, publicising same in the hope of gleaning some capital from it, but such hopes were quickly dashed by Dr. Ayu dismissing Hon. Alia as unfit to govern Benue, advising him to go back to the church from where he was recently sacked, and serve God as he had sworn on oath to do.
“He then backed PDP’s Governorship Candidate in the 2023 elections, Engr. Titus Tyoapine Uba, calling on the people to vote massively for him and all candidates of the party in the coming elections.
“Benue PDP has since read with amusement and the pity reserved for a laid-back child diatribes against Dr. Ayu by the same APC which had earlier cheered him, their latest take being that the PDP National Chairman is confused and lacking in political cloutt
“However, while we sympathise with APC over their feeling of deep hurt and disappointment at the views of our National Chairman as regards their disputed Governorship Candidate, we urge them to be circumspect and learn from the deep lessons embedded therein.
“Firstly PDP’s internal crisis is not terminal but a matter of normal stress occasioned from adjustments occuring in the party’s internal growth process, as such APC’s hopes of benefiting from it are not only shortsighted but also reflect the immaturity of the opposition party.
“Secondly, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu in Gboko only reinforced the stand which the Leader of our great party in the state, Governor Samuel Ortom has consistently reiterated, that PDP’s determination to win the popular electoral mandate of Nigerians in 2023 from “Bottom to Top” remains the larger picture despite any form of internal disagreements as may appear in the party.

“We, therefore, urge APC to humbly learn from the political sophistication exhibited by the PDP National Chairman in Gboko and seek to apply it towards solving their own mountainous problems which consist in crippling court cases resulting from their primaries such as make it doubtful to this moment if at all they will field candidates to the 2023 elections.
“It is APC’s inability to read through Dr. Ayu’s game that indeed reflects acute political confusion, and not the other way round.”
